Leadership
Stranaska Scientific LLC was founded 30 years ago in Gaithersburg, Maryland USA by Dr. Jerry Messman. His early introduction to the philosophical pillars and scientific ramifications of analytical metrology occurred during his two (2) separate tenures with this country’s National Metrology Institute (NMI): first when it was the original National Bureau of Standards (NBS), and then again later when it was renamed the National Institute of Standards of Technology (NIST), what it is known today.
Jerry D. Messman – Analytical Scientist Emeritus and Senior Managing Director
Jerry’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and mathematics, with a minor in physics, from Chadron State College (Chadron, Nebraska USA), a Doctor of Philosophy degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Maryland (College Park, Maryland USA), and a post-doctoral appointment in the Department of Chemistry, University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, Arkansas USA).
Although Dr. Messman is officially retired from the Stranaska Metrology Laboratory, he still remains involved in the Laboratory initiative on a limited basis mainly in an advisory capacity. Jerry now prioritizes his time and energy to his senior executive leadership position with Stranaska Metrology Academy, the company’s newest analytical measurement science initiative. The Academy initiative features consolidated scientific programs in Stranaska research and development, communications, and educational outreach that demonstrate Stranaska expertise and leadership in analytical metrology.
